Self-Defense is a critical aspect of personal safety and security, but many women don’t know how to defend themselves in dangerous situations. The ugly truth of how vulnerable women are to violence and sexual assaults can only be a sad story if nothing is done about it. I am not referring to third world countries or places where women are not valued or seen as equal members to society. I am calling out the violence against females right here in modern day America.
According to the Violence Prevention of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, over half of women have experienced sexual violence involving physical contact during their lifetimes. One in 4 women have experienced completed or attempted rape. Additionally, 1 in 3 women experienced sexual harassment in a public place.
In a society that seems to be so focused on the “rights” of its people, why is there no flag or protests for these deplorable statistics? Has violence against females become so common that we have become numb to this horrific occurrence?
I am fighting that fight to stop violence against women by making it my mission to empower, educate, and strengthen women everywhere by equipping them with Self-Defense skills. Females deserve to live in a society where we do not fear attacks, violence, sexual assaults, or harassment. We are the givers of life; we are sisters, friends, daughters, mothers. We are Women who need to empower and unleash our inner Warriors.
